Hot on the heels of her last hypnotic downtempo pop-flecked track, 'Burn', Southport-born producer-vocalist Låpsley has aired the second half of her upcoming AA-side release on XL, 'Hurt Me'. For us, there's been a shift in Holly Fletcher's songwriting, moving on from the rapturous Understudy EP last year - it's subtle rather than seismic, but the 19 year-old seems to be forefronting those glassy vocals of hers more, while simultaneously paring back the woozy, often distorted backing tracks. 'Hurt Me' is a clear example of this, with Fletcher's bittersweet tones swept over resonant piano and jittery samples. One-to-watch just doesn't cut it anymore, Låpsley already rules the UK's electronic-soul roost. - DC
